Chamber's Services
The Greek Chambers' Institution was established in Greece in 1836, and officially under the current form of Legal Parties of Public Law, with the L. 184/1914.
The Chambers are obligatory Traders' - Professionals' - Manufacturers' - and Small Manufacturers' Unions, aiming at the overall economic development of their members, in the wider framework of national economy.
Especially:
- They contemplate Law and Presidential Decrees plans regarding trade, alteration, and professions, or the national economy in general, and suggest solutions towards their interest, and the interest of the national economy.
- They investigate every issue related to the route of the economy and the professionals difficulties.
- They inform or provide information to their members, regarding issues that preoccupy them and they assist them in the processing of various managerial cases.
- They participate in committees having substantial responsibilities, such as Market Inspection (they judge several infringements), Tax Differences Settlement Committees, Insurance Differences
(I.K.A. - T.E.V.E.), Labor and Consultative (prices committees), Control Committees (currency etc.), Centers & Stores Enlistment Committees etc.
- They are occupied with placing opinions and suggestions to relevant parties, of issues that interest directly the professionals, such as professional accommodation, setting of VAT coefficients, insurance contributions etc.
- They undertake the solution of disputes, trade disputes, with arbitrage or compromise and conduct expertise reports.
- They provide certificates, certifying the professional employment of their members for submission to the Public Economic Services, to Courts of first instance, to Prefecture, to
T.E.V.E., to T.A.E. and to other public bodies.
- They organize seminars, meetings and lectures to the interest of professionals.
- They enforce morally and economically, initiatives that contribute to the economic development, cultural, social and national events etc.
- The Chambers are Public Law organizations they are not syndicalism bodies. Representatives from all professions, who are being elected every four years, manage them.
